HolidayHero vs GuestCompass
GuestCompass is a Dutch access and guest communication platform, strong on keyless entry across hotels, holiday parks and student housing, delivered through a no-download web app. HolidayHero runs the whole stay: arrival, a staged guest app, every message channel, upsells that post to the folio, and operations on one platform. Here is how the two compare, row by row.

GuestCompass is built around access and communication: a no-download web app tied to digital locks, sold to hotels, holiday parks, student housing, healthcare and technical services. HolidayHero runs the whole stay, with arrival, the guest app, messaging, revenue and operations on one platform beside whatever PMS you already have.
Credit where it's due
Access is genuinely GuestCompass's craft, and they have been at it since 2014. They have worked with Hotek since 2015, were the first external platform to integrate iLOQ, and also drive DOM, Salto KS, Nuki and KNX-controlled room elements like lighting, curtains and climate. Their own figure is more than 55,000 door openings a day. The magic-link web app, where a guest clicks an email link and gets a key slider without ever visiting an app store, was ahead of the market when they built it. If your problem is keys, they are a serious answer.
Why HolidayHero
The difference is what happens after the door opens. GuestCompass describes its own focus as the integration and digitalisation of access, and the product reflects that: a room directory, room service, feedback and push messages around a very good key. HolidayHero starts from the stay itself and carries the parts a key-first platform leaves out.
Revenue is the clearest gap. HolidayHero runs an upsell catalogue at a 3% success fee, posts charges straight to the PMS folio, routes guest inquiries directly to your own suppliers who fulfil them, and splits the commission three ways automatically, with a local experiences catalogue alongside. None of that is documented on the GuestCompass side.
The guest journey runs deeper too. HolidayHero's guest app is a genuine planner: guests and operators build a shared itinerary, the app adapts stage by stage as the reservation progresses, local events reach guests in the app, and you can run several distinct brands from one account, each on your own domain. GuestCompass serves branded environments on guestinfo.com subdomains, which is white-labelling, not your domain.
On messaging, GuestCompass AI is a real product and it handles WhatsApp, email and SMS flows well. Two things narrow it for a buyer: it is priced and sold as an add-on for existing GuestCompass customers, and there is no documented sync of Booking.com, Airbnb or PMS message threads into an operator inbox. HolidayHero carries all of those natively in one inbox, and adds the intelligence layer on top: sentiment detection and a composite 0–100 engagement score across five dimensions, built on the guest data the whole platform already runs on.
Arrival splits the same way. HolidayHero does online check-in itself, with ID and passport capture and automated guest registration filing to Spain's SES.Hospedajes. GuestCompass's own page states that hotel check-in always happens through the PMS, and its pre-arrival check-in link is available for Mews and Bookzo.
Commercially, HolidayHero publishes per-unit pricing from €6.50 per unit per month and lets you start yourself. GuestCompass publishes €1 per room per month for the AI layer with a €50 monthly minimum, but only for properties that already have the platform; the platform itself is quoted, carries a build fee alongside the monthly fee, and is indexed annually to the Dutch consumer price index under their terms.
Both companies are Dutch, so Europe is not the dividing line. Worth noting for procurement: GuestCompass runs on AWS as a data processor and does not state EU data residency, where HolidayHero is EU-native with EU residency. On smart devices the two overlap honestly. GuestCompass has KNX room control; HolidayHero's smart device layer covers locks, climate, energy, sensors and Matter devices.
Feature by feature
Give GuestCompass its due, because the overlap is real. Custom branding, a modular guest app you edit yourself, digital guidebooks, auto-translation, an operator dashboard, access and usage analytics, a feedback and review module, an integration API, a wide list of live PMS, lock and POS connections, guided onboarding and a clean data-processor model are all solid on both sides. Where HolidayHero pulls ahead is the surface around that: the in-app itinerary, your own domain, multiple brands, OTA and PMS inbox sync, the entire revenue block from upsell catalogue to folio posting to supplier payouts, guest sentiment and the engagement score, the headless guest app, ID capture and authority filing, PCI-compliant payments, and pricing you can read and start today.
Which fits you
If the job is keys and a room directory, especially on iLOQ or Hotek hardware, or if you are managing access for student housing, contractors and technical spaces, GuestCompass is a strong pick and access is what they do best. If you want the stay run rather than the door opened, with check-in and registration, a staged guest app on your own domain, every message channel in one inbox, and upsells that reach both the folio and your suppliers, HolidayHero is the platform built for it.
