Where Operto is strong
Credit where it is due: Operto's access stack is deep. Smart locks, mobile keys, time-bound codes, BLE lock upgrades and verification-gated entry are well documented, its guest verification adds biometric ID scanning and facial recognition, and Operto Teams is a full housekeeping and maintenance product with scheduling, checklists and payroll tracking. If your single biggest problem is doors and cleaning rosters, Operto has earned its 20,000+ operator base.

HolidayHero's bet is that the stay itself, not the lock or the cleaning schedule, is the thing worth owning. That shows up in several places where the two platforms differ.
The guest journey is the product, not a layer. HolidayHero's guest app adapts to the moment in time: reservation stages control what guests see before arrival, in-stay and after, guests and operators build a shared in-app itinerary, and operators create, sort and hide their own app sections on their own domain, in the guest's own language via auto-translation. Operto documents staged messages and staged upsells, but a stage-aware app, itineraries, custom sections, custom domains and auto-translation are not publicly documented.
Messaging that meets guests where they are. HolidayHero runs one inbox across email, WhatsApp and SMS, with Booking.com and Airbnb threads and PMS guest messages synced in, and an AI concierge that answers and actions guest messages autonomously with human guardrails. Operto's messaging covers SMS, email and in-app with scheduling and two-way replies, which works, but WhatsApp, OTA inbox sync and an AI that handles guest conversations are not publicly documented. None of that supplier and settlement layer is publicly documented on Operto's side; its local content takes the form of curated recommendations and upsell add-ons.

HolidayHero turns guest data into guest-app analytics, sentiment detection and a composite 0–100 engagement score, so you catch an unhappy guest before checkout rather than in the review.
