Assign work to a team, not a person — Tasks in HolidayHero
About this video
It is 15:00 on a changeover Saturday. One arrival is late, one departure has not gone, 14 wants a travel cot. None of it is a crisis, all of it is work — and almost none of it is assigned to anybody. It is being remembered, by whoever is behind the desk, until their shift ends. Tasks has been in HolidayHero for a year without a launch post. This is it, plus the one genuinely new piece: a task can now belong to a department rather than to a person. In this video A task sits against the reservation or the listing, so nobody types the room number across from another system Assign it to a department — housekeeping, maintenance, reception — instead of one named person The task that opens itself when a booking syncs in without a usable phone number or email Who on your team can see and do what The part worth pausing on. Assigning a task to a department tells everybody in it and makes nobody responsible. There is no claim button and nothing locks to the first person who opens it. Use a department for work any of them can do, and keep a person on work only one of them can. What it does not do yet. The department email is English only. A member who has task notifications switched off gets nothing, and you are not told. Automatic task creation fires on one condition — a reservation syncing without usable contact details, on iCal, HostHub and MyTourist — not on bookings, cancellations, arrivals or purchases. Permissions are workspace-wide, so you cannot give somebody two of your five sites and not the other three. And there is no manual page yet; the write-up below is currently the documentation.
